Question 1

What is the difference between Grade 2 and Grade 5 titanium bolts?

Accepted Answer

Grade 2 is commercially pure titanium with a minimum tensile strength of about 345 MPa. It offers excellent corrosion resistance and formability for chemical and marine hardware. Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) is an alpha-beta alloy with a minimum tensile strength of about 895 MPa per ASTM B348. It is the standard choice for automotive, motorcycle, cycling, and other load-bearing fasteners.

Question 2

What is the minimum order quantity for custom titanium fasteners?

Accepted Answer

Most catalogue titanium bolts and nuts start at 10 to 30 pieces. Some standard hex nuts and motorcycle dress-up bolts start at 100 to 200 pieces. Drawing-based custom parts are quoted case by case.

Question 3

Can you anodize titanium bolts in custom colors?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Titanium fasteners can be supplied with a plain machined finish or a polished finish. They can also be anodized in colors such as gold, blue, purple, burnt (rainbow), and black. Anodizing does not add significant thickness to the thread.

Question 4

Which trade and payment terms do you accept?

Accepted Answer

Accepted delivery terms include FOB, CFR, CIF, EXW, FCA, CPT, DDP, DDU, and express delivery. Accepted payment methods include T/T, L/C, D/P, D/A, PayPal, credit card, Western Union, and escrow. Payments can be made in USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, and other major currencies.

Question 5

How do I prevent galling and galvanic corrosion with titanium bolts?

Accepted Answer

Apply a titanium-compatible anti-seize compound to the threads before assembly. Tighten to the torque values recommended for titanium rather than steel. When titanium is fastened into aluminium or magnesium in wet environments, use isolating washers or coatings to reduce galvanic corrosion.
